KATHMANDU (ILO News) – Nepal is stepping up efforts to better protect workers from hazardous chemical exposure and strengthen safety and health at work through improved prevention, national coordination and workplace chemical risk management. A recent policy dialogue brought together government, employers and workers to strengthen chemical safety, prevention and healthier workplaces. The dialogue came at an important time as the use of hazardous chemicals continues to expand across agriculture, manufacturing, construction, healthcare and other sectors.
The event included other IOMC partners such as FAO, and is part of the ILO project “Ensuring integration of occupational safety and health within the GFC Implementation Programmes”, supported by the German Federal Ministry for the Environment, Climate Action, Nature Conservation and Nuclear Safety and implemented under the ILO’s Safety + Health for All flagship programme.
